Code of Conduct

Fjord Cricket Club is committed to upholding the spirit of cricket and ensuring that all members, players, coaches, and supporters conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the club and the sport. This Code of Conduct is established to provide a clear framework for expected behaviors both on and off the field.

General Conduct

  • All members must act with integrity, respect, and fairness.

  • Behave in a manner that reflects positively on the club at all times.

  • Respect the decisions of umpires, officials, coaches, and team captains.

  • Ensure that the rules of cricket and the club are followed at all times.

  • Every activity in the club is time bound and has a start date-time and end date-time. This includes training sessions, official matches, providing availability for matches/any group activity.

  • If availability has been given (match/event/training) and a person is not able to attend due to a valid reason, members are expected to inform the responsible stakeholders as soon as is practical.

On-field Conduct

  • Sportsmanship: Always play within the spirit of the game. Respect your opponents and your teammates.

  • Respect for Umpires: Players must accept the decisions of umpires without dissent. Verbal or physical abuse towards match officials will not be tolerated.

  • Fair Play: Players should compete fairly and adhere to the rules of the game. Cheating or unsportsmanlike behavior is strictly prohibited.

  • Language and Behavior: Foul language, aggressive behavior, or any form of abuse will not be tolerated. Treat opponents, umpires, and teammates with respect. Players should display modesty in victory and graciousness in defeat , the right balance shows great sportsmanship keeping the sport and spirits at the highest level.

  • Safety: Always prioritize the safety of all players on the field. Follow safety regulations, including the use of proper equipment.

Off-field Conduct

  • Respect for Training Facilities and common equipment: Members must treat training facilities/equipment with care and ensure they are left in good condition after use.

  • Public Conduct: Members must behave appropriately in all club-related activities, including social events. Public behavior that brings the club into disrepute will be subject to disciplinary action.

  • Social Media: Any posts or comments made on social media that are related to the club, team members, or cricket in general should be respectful. Avoid any negative, inflammatory, or discriminatory remarks online.

Respect and Inclusion

  • Equal Opportunities: The club is committed to promoting an inclusive environment. Discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated.

  • Anti-Harassment: Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind is prohibited, both within the club and in interactions with other teams or the public.

  • Diversity: The club values diversity and encourages players from all backgrounds to participate and enjoy the sport.

Drugs and Alcohol

  • Zero Tolerance for Drugs: The use of illegal drugs or performance-enhancing substances is strictly prohibited.

  •  Alcohol: Players must avoid excessive drinking before matches. Responsible consumption of alcohol is expected at social events, and members must not drink and drive.

Disciplinary Procedures

  • Any breaches of this Code of Conduct will be investigated by the club’s Disciplinary Committee.

​

  • Penalties for breaching the Code of Conduct may include warnings, suspension from matches or club activities, or expulsion from the club, depending on the severity of the offense.

  • Members have the right to appeal any disciplinary action through a formal club process.

Role of Coaches and Captains

  • Lead by Example: Coaches and team captains must set a positive example on and off the field.

  • Support and Guidance: Ensure that all players understand and abide by the Code of Conduct.

​

  • Encourage Fair Play: Promote sportsmanship, respect for opponents, and adherence to rules among all team members.

Parents and Supporters

  • Positive Support: Parents and supporters should encourage fair play, respect for officials, and positive attitudes among players.

​

  • Respect for Umpires and Players: Refrain from criticizing umpires, players, or coaches during or after the game. Any grievances should be addressed through proper club channels.

Complaints and Feedback

  • Members who have concerns or complaints regarding conduct or behavior should report these to the club’s management (Board) or write an email to fjordcricketclub@gmail.com.

  • All complaints will be taken seriously and handled confidentially.

Acknowledgment

  • All players, members, and officials must read, understand, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. This agreement is a condition of membership in the club.
